INTRODUCTION:Beginning August 2018, Saint Luke’s cafeteria services have been operated by W.G. Grinders, a Columbus-based deli and caterer providing cafeteria operations at Alter, Carroll, Chaminade-Julienne, Mercy-McAuley (Cincinnati) and Lehman Catholic (Sidney) high schools, and Incarnation and Saint Patrick (Troy) elementary schools.
Menu Items W.G. Grinders Cafeteria Operations offer students -W.G. Grinders Cafeteria Operations offers restaurant quality food in a cafeteria setting. A regular menu will rotate 30-40 different entrees throughout the school year. Each meal will include an entrée and two sides. In addition, a la carte items are offered, including Grinder sandwiches, wraps, salads, yogurt and pudding parfaits, fresh fruit salad, Sun Chips, Baked Lays, and freshly baked cookies.
Special diet items are also available to students -Items must be ordered by 3:00 p.m. the day before by sending an email to the cafeteria manager, Amber Lowe at: [email protected].
Cafeteria menu costs are -
$4.50 daily entree meal (milk included) – ages PK thru Grade 4
$5.00 daily entree meal (milk included) – ages Grades 5 thru 8 (larger portions)
$1.00 additional for gluten-free daily entrée meal (ordered day prior by 3:00 p.m.)
$0.75 to $2.50 a la carte items (gluten free a la carte items are available)
$3.00 - 3-inch Grinder sandwich / wrap
$2.50 - salad
$0.75 - $1.25 - other snacks & chips
$0.75 - bottle water
$1.00 - juice box
$1.00 - Sunny D
$ .75- water
Free or reduced price lunches are available to students for families who qualify. As in previous years, arrangements are coordinated through the School Office and not through W.G. Grinders.
Other advantages W.G. Grinders Cafeteria Operations bring -- Parents will be able view their child(ren)’s cafeteria menu selections and child(ren)’s lunch account balance.
- Previous year Saint Luke lunch account balances will be credited to a W.G. Grinders’ lunch account balance for the following year for returning students, and automatically rolled into a high school lunch account balance for a student going to a high school or enrolling in another elementary school operated by W.G. Grinders.
- A bonus is credited to deposits made during Open House for each new year to each child’s lunch account. See details below.
- As school policy permits, parents are welcome to join their child(ren) for lunch at regular cafeteria costs.
- A free milk will be provided to each student daily through the school’s participation in the government Milk Program .
- While offering a full and balanced lunch menu meeting National School Lunch Program standards, W.G. Grinders can do so without government oversight and/or assistance.
- A portion of all cafeteria sales is returned to Saint Luke School. Families further support the school, therefore, every time a student eats in the cafeteria.
If a student’s account balance goes in the negative, parents will receive an email from Grinders notifying you of the negative balance, or you will receive an email from St. Luke’s School. If an account balance is more than $10.00 negative, a student will only have the option of purchasing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a la carte purchases will be suspended while the balance is in the negative. (Students with nut or gluten allergies will have a different option.)
